Abigail's Party - open auditions

We’re delighted to announce open auditions for our February 2027 production of Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party.

Set in the 1970s, Abigail’s Party is one of Britain’s best-loved modern comedies – painfully funny, wonderfully awkward and packed with memorable characters. What begins as drinks and nibbles between neighbours gradually becomes an increasingly uncomfortable evening as tensions, ambitions and relationships begin to surface.

Who are the characters?

There are five roles – three women and two men:

Beverly – The formidable hostess. Outgoing, flirtatious, aspirational and determined that everyone should enjoy themselves – whether they want to or not!

Laurence – Beverly’s husband. An estate agent who is more restrained and serious than his wife, and increasingly exasperated by her behaviour as the evening progresses.

Angela – Cheerful, talkative and rather tactless. She and her husband Tony are new to the neighbourhood and have been invited round for drinks.

Tony – Angela’s quieter and somewhat monosyllabic husband. He may not say a great deal, but there’s plenty going on beneath the surface.

Susan – Abigail’s mother, who has been invited to Beverly’s while her teenage daughter holds the infamous party next door. Polite, reserved and increasingly uncomfortable with the evening’s proceedings.

Auditions are open to members and non-members alike, so whether you’ve appeared with Radcliffe-on-Trent Drama Group before or are thinking about joining us for the first time, we’d love to see you.

Monday 28 September – 8.00pm & Thursday 1 October – 7.30pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, Radcliffe-on-Trent

There’s no need to attend both audition evenings.
