About the event

A family home. Three generations. Seventy years of secrets.

Join us for a reading of Family Album, a beautifully observed comedy-drama from one of Britain’s best-loved playwrights, Alan Ayckbourn.

Set in the same house across three different periods – 1952, 1992 and 2022 – the play follows three generations of one family as they celebrate, remember and gradually reveal the things that have been left unsaid.

In typical Ayckbourn style, Family Album mixes sharp humour with moments of real poignancy. As the years move backwards and forwards, apparently ordinary family memories begin to take on a rather different meaning.

Funny, touching and deceptively revealing, it gives us plenty to enjoy – and plenty to talk about afterwards.

Our play readings are relaxed and informal. You don't need to be interested in acting or take a part: you're equally welcome to come along, listen, enjoy the play and join us for a drink…
