Synopsis

The stage represents the interior and surroundings of the Wicksteed's house in Hove. There in a satirical merry-go-round we meet a family, it's friends and acquaintances for whom the determination to put sex and the satisfaction of the body, or corpus, before all else is the ruling passion of their lives.

The permissive society is taken to task in this farcical comedy in which the characters, as their names (eg. Cannon Throbbing) suggest, move and indeed, dance in and out through a maze of mistaken identities and sexual encounters. As Wicksteed says at the close, " He who lusts last, lasts longest".

The play is divided into 2 acts, the action being continuous.
