Synopsis

Young John left England a few years ago under a shadow. He was suspected of rifling the desk of his wealthy Aunt, Lady Chalmont. His lover, Isobel, was devastated.
Abroad he met and married the beautiful and mysterious Aurelia. Unexpectedly, she returns to England without him and tells Isobel a horrific story. However, Aurelia is, in reality, starting to weave a web of deceit and crime, which if successfully completed, will net her a large sum of money.
But she finds herself becoming hopelessly enmeshed in a tangled web of murder, robbery and blackmail. As she twists and turns to try and escape each unexpected complication, the story ends in disaster, tragedy and bitter irony.
