Synopsis
This classic comedy gives us sisters Abby and Martha Brewster, two dear elderly ladies who are famous in their Brooklyn neighbourhood for their numerous acts of charity, but they have dedicated themselves to helping lonely old men who are looking for lodgings to find peace with their elderberry wine, laced with a delicate mixture of arsenic, strychnine and "just a pinch of cyanide".
The two women are assisted in their crimes by eccentric nephew who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt and that he is building the Panama Canal in the cellar. Matters get complicated when a second nephew, theatre critic, Mortimer discovers the murders and then a third nephew, Jonathan appears who is on the run from the law.
The action of the play takes place in the Brewster household in Brooklyn, U.S.A.
